Follow along with "Daily Updates" each evening while our students encounter history head on in Charlottesville, Williamsburg, Jamestown, Alexandria and Washington, D.C. This page will update twice each day, first noting our return to the hotel and then announcing that our Daily Update is ready.

Daily Updates will include photos, a written narrative, and maybe some streaming video. You will not need to install any special software to view these photos nor to read the narrative but you will need a video player installed to view any streaming video.

Your computer probably came with Windows Media Player already installed and working.  Our daily video should play in your Windows Media Player.

Sunday, October 22, 2006:  We are all home safe and sound!  Look for our newest updates this afternoon, sometime around 3:30pm   4:00pm 5:00pm. We'll have our Day Seven Daily Update, including video from our Wreath Laying Ceremony, as well as a video from Day Six -- which is ready now, and more student artwork!

Our Day Six Daily update is ready.  Look for video from Day Six and Day Seven on our next Daily Update, which will not publish until sometime Sunday.  Tonight's daily update features some student artwork.  Several students have drawings and comics they'd like to share as well.  Look for those on Sunday, too!

Thanks for your support this past week.  Oh, Mrs. Turin says hello from Washington, D.C. along with my Aunt and Uncle.  She was proud of our students this evening.  See you tomorrow and don't forget to monitor our travel status via voice mail.  This message will begin updating upon our arrival at Baltimore Washington Airport.

Day six was a great day!  We've been back at the hotel now for several hours.  Our students packed up, prepared for tomorrow and went to sleep.  We'll have a Daily Update ready sometime around 9:30pm pacific time.  No video for tonight, though.  We will, however, offer some student art work.

Day Five Daily Update is ready!  Have a good evening,

Thursday, Day Five -- We've been back at our hotel this evening since 9pm east coast time.  Yes!  An early return after another full day.  Look for tonight's Day Five Daily Update just about 8:30pm pacific.

It looks like Day Four is up and ready, I mean really ready, and I fixed the video link so it doesn't ask for a password at 9:29pm pacific; but at 9:37pm pacific I still don't have the video working so check back Thursday morning and we'll try again. OK, looks like the video is up!  The hotel internet connection comes with built in issues -- the video didn't finish uploading until 2am our time and we were fast asleep by then.  It is 6:22am eastern -- time for breakfast!

I wish I could take all the credit for the fantastic video we've been editing each evening, but Travis has been behind the scenes.

While we'll have students on a camera, on occasion,  Travis has done all of the editing for the web.  That's not to say I lack talent; here is an infrared image I took of myself while visiting the Air and Space Museum!

Enjoy,

David -- Wed. Oct. 18 @ 9:07pm pacific

Here's a photo of the "Where Are We?" gizmo sitting inside a tin tea box on Curt's coach. The Handheld transmitter also has a battery which also needs charging.  By golly, I think I've got it!  Let's see if it doesn't track us tomorrow as we travel through Washington, D.C.

OK, looks like Day Three's update is really ready now, and so is the video.
